Mr. Md. Abdur Rahim Khan has come from an illustrious Muslim family of Chandpur District. He is the eldest son of Late Md. Abdur Razzaque Khan a retired banker and Late Mrs. Jobeda Khan. He was married to Ms. Shahida Akther who has been working for the United Nations World Food Programme (UN WFP) and now leading a team to implement the livelihood Programme across the poverty-prone area of Yemen. Mr. and Mrs. Khan are blessed with two daughters.

Mr. Khan received MSc. in Public Economic Management & Finance from the University of Birmingham, UK in 2006. Before joining the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1995 as Assistant Secretary he earned his BA (Honors) and MA from the University of Dhaka in 1990 and 1991, respectively. With over twenty-seven years of work experience in the Government of Bangladesh, he has worked extensively in the Upazila (Sub-District), District, and Division level field administrations in various capacities as Assistant and Senior Assistant Commissioner and First Class Magistrate as well as Assistant Commissioner (Land). In the central Government, he has contributed a lot in making policy decisions during his work time in the Ministry of Information, Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Commerce.

Mr. Khan specializes in Public Finance Management, International Trade, Governance Reforms, Local Governance, and Rural Development including issues related to land administration and land management. He has been associated with various policy reforms in the areas of Public Finance Management (PFM) and International Trade. He was also involved in reform initiatives relating to the National Budget preparation and its execution under the Medium-Term Budget Framework (MTBF).

In addition to basic professional training in the country, Mr. Khan has also been trained by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), The World Bank, The Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Asian Institute of Development Studies, and other reputed institutions at home and abroad. He often joins as a Panel Discussant in different seminars at home and abroad and various training institutions like Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center (BPATC), Police Staff College, Financial Management Academy (FIMA), Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institution (BFTI) and Public Finance Foundation (PFF) etc.

Mr. Khan is now responsible for leading the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishment to ensure the occupational safety and health in areas of industry. Alongside he is responsible for developing strategies for the implementation of labor rights and workplace safety.
